WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Silver Lake man charged after being observed traveling at 102mph

Benjamin M. Torres, 35, of Silver Lake, NY was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 39 in the Town of Castile on April 9, 2022.

Torres was stopped after being observed traveling 102 miles per hour in a marked 55 mile per hour zone.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Torres possessed a revoked NYS driver’s license with numerous suspensions. After further investigation, which included field sobriety testing, Torres was placed under arrest for DWI.

Torres is charged with speeding, felony driving while intoxicated, due to two previous DWI convictions within the preceding ten years, operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree.

Torres was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where he was released on his own recognizance. He is to appear in the Town of Castile Court on April 25, 2022, for further proceedings.

Following a traffic stop for a headlight violation on Route 39 in the Town of Arcade, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested the vehicle operator, Randy J. Ring, 25, of West Valley, NY, for DWI/drugs.

Ring was observed showing general indicators of impairment and was asked to submit to field sobriety testing. Ring performed the tests poorly and was taken into custody for DWI.

Ring was then transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he submitted to a DRE evaluation conducted by Sergeant Chase. The results of the evaluation concluded that Ring was allegedly impaired by a central nervous system stimulant and unable to operate a vehicle safely.

Ring is charged with DWI/drugs, inadequate/no head lamps, and inadequate muffler. He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the Town of Arcade Court on April 28, 2022.
