WYOMING COUNTY/Sheriff’s Office investigating a fatal accident in Silver Springs

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that resulted in a fatality.

On April 22, 2022, at 12:42 p.m., the Communications Division received reports of a dump truck into a building on East Perry Avenue in the Village of Silver Springs.

The dump truck, which is owned by the Wyoming County Highway Department, was eastbound on East Perry Avenue. A witness reported the dump truck abruptly veered across the westbound lane. Upon doing so an electrical pole was sheered, parked cars were struck and a building hit, which stopped the truck. There were no other motorists or any pedestrians involved. Wyoming County Coroner Michael Smith pronounced the driver of the truck dead at the scene.

No further information is being released pending family notifications.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team is continuing to investigate. The following supported operations at the scene: Silver Springs Fire Department, Wyoming County Emergency Services Office, Monroe Ambulance, Castile Fire Department, Castile Department of Public Works, Wyoming County Buildings & Codes Department and Wyoming County Coroner’s Office.
