WYOMING COUNTY/Business shop is a total loss after early morning fire discovered by neighbor

A neighbor leaving for work discovered a fire at Strykersville Excavating Service at 383 Factory road in the Town of Sheldon about 3:50a.m. on Thursday morning.

According to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, the 40×40 shop was fully involved in fire upon arrival of the first firefighters. The building and its contents were a total loss along with a newly restored 1965 Corvette. Estimated loss is $175,000. The business is owned by Rebecca and Kyle Parmerter II.

Seven fire companies were on scene for about 4 hours, no injuries were reported.

The cause is under investigation.

Responding companies, Strykersville, North Java, Arcade, Sheldon, Harris Corners, Wales Center and Holland. Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Services, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.
