WYOMING COUNTY/Second abandon house goes up in flames on Hermitage road in Wethersfield

The Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a second fire at a second abandoned home on Hermitage road in the Town of Wethersfield, after an abandon home was found totally involved in fire on Saturday June 11, 2022.

William Streicher, Wyoming County Fire /EMS Coordinator, says this weekend’s fire and last weekend’s fire are both active investigations.

The fire at 4085 Hermitage road on June 11, 2022 was called into Wyoming County 911 dispatch at 11:08p.m., almost the same time as the June 4th fire at 3856 Hermitage road, 11:07p.m.. Both abandon homes were owned by Marquart Brothers LLC.

Eight fire companies, Gainesville, Silver Springs, Pike, Warsaw, Bliss, Strykersville, Varysburg and Attica responded to this fire and spent 2.5 hours extinguishing the blaze. Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Servies and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department.

There were no injuries, and no value was placed on the home.
