PERRY POLICE REPORT/Perry man charged after child abuse investigation

Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Perry resident for child abuse charges following an investigation by the Perry Police Department

On August 1, 2022, Officer David Spink of the Perry Police Department responded to a residence in the Village of Perry to assist Child Protected Services. Upon Officer Spink’s arrival, it was reported to him a 2.5-month-old was possibly physically injured. The infant was transported to the Wyoming County Hospital by Monroe Ambulance.

After further evaluation, it was determined that the infant had a possible broken femur bone, which was later confirmed when transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.

After an extensive investigation alongside the Wyoming County District Attorney’s office, 25-year-old Michael Salamone was arrested by Officer David Spink and Officer Croll and charged with assault in the second degree, causing injury to a person less than 7 years old and endangering the welfare of a child.

Salamone was arraigned in Perry Village Court in front of the Honorable Tammy Kelsey.  Judge Kelsey committed Salamone to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond, or $200,000 partially secured. Salamone has a return court date of September 13, 2022 at 1pm in Perry Village Court.
