BATAVIA/Police investigating a shooting on Elm street

The City of Batavia Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon in the area of Elm street and East Main street.

According to Police Chief Shawn Heubusch, one person suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to UMMC via Mercy ambulance. The victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening and police are investigating the shooting and working on leads to locate the suspect.

On August 12th at 4:14 PM, Batavia Police responded to the area of Elm Street and East Main Street for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, BPD officers located two victims in the area. Both victims were treated by the City of Batavia Fire Department and MercyEMS. MercyEMS transported one victim to UMMC with non-life threatening injuries and one victim was treated on the scene.

BPD is actively investigating the incident at this time, however, has determined that there is not an ongoing threat to the safety of the public or residents in the area.
