NYS Police/Aide for the elderly charged after investigation, NYS Police looking for other victims in WNY

On August 12, 2022, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Clarence arrested Jered C. Menter, 31, of Buffalo, NY, charging him with grand larceny 3rd degree, identity theft 1st degree and forgery 2nd degree, all class D felonies. 

On July 2, 2022, Troopers out of SP Clarence responded to Ransom Road in the town of Clarence for a larceny complaint.

The investigation revealed Menter acted as an aide for an elderly victim in the town of Clarence. Without authorization, Menter allegedly accessed the victim’s financial accounts and transferred approximately $18,500 to himself and third-party proxies.

State Police say Menter acts as an aide to elderly individuals across the Western New York area, he allegedly obtains access to the financial accounts of his clients where he then transfers money to himself and other third parties without the victim’s knowledge.

Menter is awaiting sentencing on a case with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and is also a suspect in a State Police Boston case.
