NYS Police/Albion man arrested after welfare fraud investigation

On August 10th, 2022, State Police in Albion arrested Kenneth Howerton, 38, of Albion, NY, charging him with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree and welfare fraud in the third degree.

After troopers investigated a welfare fraud case from the Orleans County Department of Social Services it was determined that Howerton had allegedly failed to report the entire household income on multiple occasions when applying for benefits. Howerton was arrested and processed at the State Police barracks in Albion.

Howerton was issued an appearance ticket for the town of Albion court, where he is to appear in August 2022.
