The City of Batavia Police Department is closer to being almost at full staff. Police Chief Shawn Heubusch says three officers have been sworn in and are currently in field training. One other is in academy currently. Two officer positions remain open.

Chief Heubusch says in 2013-14 there were 7 open positions.

The new officers will be involved in field training for about 12 weeks before they can serve on their own.

The City of Batavia Police have 6 NYS Field Training Officers within the department who will be working with the new officers.

Officer Bryan Moscicki is a 2016 Notre Dame High School graduate and attended the Rural Police Academy at Genesee Community College. He recently worked with the Attica Police Department for the past year and is a Lieutenant with the Town of Batavia Volunteer Fire Department, where he has been a member since 2018.

“I am excited to be working for the City of Batavia,” Moscicki said.
