PERRY, NY – Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of Michael Strobele of Buffalo, NY.
On September 15, 2022, at about 9:42 p.m., Officer David Spink conducted a traffic stop on Lake street for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Upon interacting with the suspect, 43-year-old Michael Strobele, Officer Spink suspected Strobele to be impaired and requested Strobele submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he complied. Strobele did not perform the tests as instructed and was subsequently arrested for driving while ability impaired by drug(s).
An evaluation was performed at the Perry Police Department by Deputy Justin Bliss, a certified Drug Recognition Expert. It was DRE’s conclusion that Strobele was allegedly impaired by multiple categories of drugs and therefore unable to operate a motor vehicle safely on a public highway.
In a search of the vehicle Strobele was operating, several baggies of a white crystal substance, identified as methamphetamine, a glass pipe with a white powdery residue, a package of small baggies and several butane lighters were located.
Along with being issued tickets for the vehicle and traffic law violations, Stroble was charged with DWAI/drugs, DWAI/multiple drugs, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree with the intent to sell, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd degree.
Per NYS Bail Reform, Strobele was released with a return court date for October 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Perry Village Court.
Along with Deputy Bliss of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Spink was assisted by Officer Matthew Cross.

PERRY, NY – Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Caledonia man on DWI charges following an investigation by the Perry Police Department.
On September 18, 2022, at about 2:35 a.m. Officer David Spink conducted a traffic stop on Lake street for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Upon interacting with the suspect, 30-year-old Shane W. Curts, Officer Spink suspected Curts to be intoxicated.
Officer Spink requested Curts submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he complied. Curts did not perform the tests as instructed and was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. Curts refused a chemical test to determine the alcohol or drug content of his blood.
Curts was charged with DWI and ticketed for vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was arraigned in Perry Village Court in front of the Honorable Tammy Kelsey. Per NYS Bail Reform, Curts was released on his own recognizance with a return court date of October 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Perry Village Court.
