The LeRoy Knights defeated Vertus Charter, 53-14 during their Homecoming at Hartwood Park on Friday night. Senior Jack Tonzi caught a pass from third string quarterback Drew Strollo late in the first quarter to up the score to 20-0.
Warriors quarterback E’mere Fulton found Josiah Granville at midfield with a pass in the 2nd quarter, Granville continued on to the endzone to put Vertus on the board. Fulton then scampered in for two points to make the score 20-8.
With a bit over 4 minutes left in the second quarter, a Vertus player suffered an ankle injury and was transported off the field. The remaining 4 minutes of the 2nd quarter were played after half time and after Homecoming activities.
After halftime, LeRoy came back on the field to continue their end of 2nd quarter drive with a touchdown from Drew Strollo who found an opening to the endzone to make the score 26-8, the extra point was good.
LeRoy is now 4-1, Vertus has yet to win a game this season. Next week LeRoy will travel to Hornell.
