PERRY POLICE REPORT/Perry woman facing charges in forgery investigation

PERRY, NY- Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Perry resident following a multi-jurisdictional investigation.

On October 29, 2022, Perry Police arrested Morgan E. Winspear, 22, of Perry, NY, following an investigation that lasted several months. Winspear allegedly took a check from a family member and allegedly forged it on two separate occasions, for a total of $4,000.

The complaint was filed with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. Detectives from Marion County were able to uncover Winspear as the suspect through investigations into the suspect and victim’s bank accounts as well as photographs of the altered checks.

The case was turned over to the New York State Police in Warsaw before being handed over to the Perry Police Department. Winspear was arrested on a total of six felony charges. She is charged with grand larceny 4th degree, forgery 2nd degree and possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree.

She was processed and released with a return court date of November 8th 2022 at 1:00PM.
