WYOMING COUNTY/Perry/A roofing torch being used for repairs caused a fire in Perry on Friday

A 2 1/2 story building in Perry suffered significant structural damage along with smoke and water damage after a structure fire.

Five fire companies responded to the home at 6:13p.m., which is owned by Hsouna Constuction Corp., with flames showing upon arrival.

According to Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, a roofing torch being used to apply roofing materials ignited the wooden structure located at 59 South Main street in the Village of Perry on Friday evening.

Estimated loss is $100,000. The building was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Responding fire companies, Perry, Perry Center, Castile, Silver Springs, and Perry EMS. Crews were on scene for about 3 hours.

Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Services, the Perry Police Department and NYSEG.
