Three goats perished in a fire at 1866 Reed Road in the Town of Arcade on Thursday morning after a garage caught fire.
The 20’x35′ unattached garage housed animals, tools, small equipment and was a total loss, said Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services. The house did sustain some damage to its siding from the heat of the fire, however the home remains habitable.
According to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, the cause of the fire was a heat lamp that was being used to keep the goats warm.
Estimated damages are $25,000.
Fire crews from Arcade, North Java, Strykersville and Yorkshire responded at 6:55a.m. and were on scene for 2.5 hours. Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Services, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Arcade Highway Dept., and Arcade Electric.
