ORLEANS COUNTY/Teen charged with a felony after making a threatening social media post that targeted the Albion School District

According to Sheriff Christopher M. Bourke, on March 14, 2023, at 06:36 am, Albion School Resource Deputy Prawel received information regarding a threatening social media post that had been made via Snap Chat. This post allegedly targeted the Albion School District with violence.

Working together, Albion School officials, the Albion Police Department, Deputy Prawel, Lt. Fox, Sheriff’s Investigators Kevin Colonna and Brian Marsceill, were able to locate the 16-year-old Albion student responsible for making the post.

The suspect and his family cooperated with law enforcement. The suspect was transported to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office for processing and stated that the post was just a joke, and he was just playing around.

The suspect is charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony.

The suspect was arraigned in front of Judge Sanford Church in Orleans County Youth Court, and was released to the custody of his mother, to immediately report to Orleans County Probation for intake and electronic monitoring. The suspect will return to court at a later date.
