Mega Properties lease location on Federal Drive

The Town of Batavia Town Board approved a resolution to lease space from Mega Properties on Federal Drive for their History and Engineering Departments.

According to Town Supervisor Greg Post, the History Department has been working out of an area in the Town Hall that is the size of a closet. The department is in need of temporary space for historical items and for a Town Historian’s office.

The Town is also in need of a temporary space for their Engineering Department and a group within the department that will be assisting with Capital Projects that have been back logged due to the pandemic and are now ready to move forward.

The 5,220 square foot space is located in the front section of a warehouse building in the island on Federal Drive. The Town of Batavia will lease the space for 3 years. The first year will be at a cost of $52, 200. The second and third year will be at an increase of 2% each year.

The Town will update the office space to fit their needs, adding internet service, building security and safety, office furniture and computers.

Post says the Town of Batavia has been in talks with the Agricultural Society about sharing space in a building located to the west of the Genesee County Fairgrounds entrance for the past year. The Town is looking to display its historical artifacts and exhibits at that location on East Main Street along with the Agricultural Society’s exhibits.
