BATAVIA POLICE BLOTTER/Man accused of striking a woman with a vehicle after taking her keys

Raymond Amaro, 36, of East Main Street, Batavia, NY, is charged with robbery 3rd, assault 2nd, grand larceny 4th, reckless endangerment 2nd, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. On 4/4/23, Officer Rissinger arrested Amaro on the above charges.  It is alleged that while at an apartment complex on East Main Street, Amaro forcibly stole car keys from an acquaintance and then struck her with the vehicle while fleeing the scene.  Amaro was arraigned in Batavia City Court and held on bail.

Robert L. Drennen Sr., 41, of Holley Street, Brockport, NY, is charged with grand larceny 4th. On 3/30/23 Officer Girvin arrested Drennen for grand larceny 4th after he allegedly stole an acquaintance’s debit card and withdrew money without permission.  Drennen was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear in Batavia City Court on 4/11/23 at 1:30pm.

Leonard E. Aguayo, 36, of Cross Street, Rochester, NY, is charged with criminal trespass 2nd and resisting arrest. On 3/30/23, Officer Freeman arrested Aguayo on a Batavia City Court warrant for criminal trespass 2nd.  Aguayo allegedly resisted arrest on the warrant and was additionally charged with resisting arrest.  The warrant was issued after an investigation into a domestic incident at a residence on South Main Street.  Aguayo was arraigned in Batavia City Court.

Cody J. Nichols, 38, of North Street, Caledonia, NY, is charged with petit larceny. On 4/04/23, Officer Crossett arrested Nichols for petit larceny.  Nichols allegedly stole items totaling more than $300 from a local supermarket.  Nichols was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Batavia City Court on 4/18/23 at 1:00pm and released.

Samantha L. Tate, 30, of Federal Drive, Batavia, NY, is charged with improper turn and DWI drugs. On 3/31/23, Officer Freeman arrested Tate for improper turn and DWI drugs after a traffic stop on Ellicott Avenue.  Tate was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Batavia City Court on 4/05/23.

Rickie L. Pitts, 56, of Prospect Avenue, Medina, NY, is charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation 1st, and no/inadequate headlamps. On 4/02/23, Officer Tucker arrested Pitts on the above charges following a traffic stop on Main Street at Jefferson Avenue. It is alleged that Pitts was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and that his license was suspended.

Nathan W. Campbell, 42, of State Street, Batavia, NY, is charged with trespass. On 3/28/2023, Officer Tucker arrested Campbell for trespassing at a business on West Main Street where he had previously been told he was not allowed to be.  Campbell walked from the area prior to patrols arrival and was located by Officer Tucker on Park Road.  Campbell was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Batavia City Court on 4/11/23 at 1:00pm and released.

Jesse A. Russell, 33, of Alleghany Road, Basom, NY, was arrested on an arrest warrant out of Batavia City Court. On 3/27/2023, Officer Post arrested Russell on an arrest warrant out of Batavia City Court for failing to appear. Russell failed to appear after being ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation and operating without inspection following a traffic stop on 1/12/2021.  Russell was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released on his own recognizance to re-appear in Batavia City Court on 4/11/23 at 3:00pm.

Chad E. Alwardt, 43, of East Main Street, Batavia, NY, is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. On 3/28/2023, Officer Gombos arrested Alwardt for two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.  The first charge stems from a traffic stop on Park Ave on 2/20/2022 where it is alleged Alwardt possessed narcotics.  The second charge stems from a check the welfare on West Main Street on 3/17/2022 where it is alleged Alwardt possessed narcotics.  Charges were delayed while awaiting the return of lab results.  Alwardt was issued appearance tickets to appear in Batavia City Court at a later date and released.
