WYOMING COUNTY/8 acres of brush consumed by fire late Sunday afternoon at Letchworth State Park

Six fire companies responded to the St. Helena Overlook in Castile at Letchworth State Park late Sunday afternoon for a brush fire that consumed about 8 acres in a remote area of the park.

According to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, an electrical transmission line fell to the ground and caused the fire about 5:29p.m. on April 16, 2023.

Crews from Perry, Perry Center, Castile, Pike, Silver Springs and Mt. Morris were on scene for 3 hours to extinguish the fire. Also assisting on scene, NYS Park Police and NYSEG.
