WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/May 17, 2023

Jared H. Gay, 55, of Middlebury, was arrested following a domestic incident in the Town of Middlebury on May 9, 2023. Gay is charged with numerous felonies after an altercation that turned violent and physical with multiple people.

Gay allegedly shot a pistol from his residence towards the roadway during the altercation while other
individuals were driving up the roadway at the time. This led to a physical fight between multiple people where a victim sustained serious injuries.

Gay is charged with assault 2nd degree, reckless endangerment 1st degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, and menacing 2nd degree.

He was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and due to three of the charges being
qualifying offenses under bail reform, Gay was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail on $20,000
bail. An order of protection was issued for three separate victims.

Gay will return to the Town of Middlebury Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Assisting at the scene were Troopers from the NYSP and the Wyoming Count Sheriff’s Office
Criminal Investigation Division.

A Bliss man is facing charges of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly touched the victim’s intimate parts on May 4, 2023.

John Wilber, 43, of Eagle, is charged with 4 counts of forcible touching, a misdemeanor, and 4 counts of
endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, after an investigation by the Wyoming County
Sheriff’s Office.

It is alleged that Wilber touched the intimate parts of another person for his own gratification. It is
also alleged that he acted in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental or moral welfare of a
child less than seventeen years old.

Wilber will appear in the Town of Eagle Court on June 23, 2023.

On May 13, 2023, at approximately 8:16PM, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office 911 center
received a call for a motor vehicle accident, involving a utility vehicle (UTV), on Glor Road in
the Town of Attica.

Deputies arrived on scene and located three patients, who had all been ejected from the UTV.

Initial investigation revealed that the UTV was traveling eastbound on Glor Road and left the north shoulder of the roadway. The UTV then descended into the ditch on the north shoulder of the roadway, overturning and ejecting the occupants.

The 16-year-old male operator sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident, and was
transported by Monroe Ambulance to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. Two passengers, a
17-year-old male and 16-year-old female, sustained minor injuries and were also transported by
ambulance to Oishei Children’s Hospital for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division. Assisting at the scene were members of Monroe Ambulance, Attica Fire Department, Bennington Fire Department and Eddy’s Collision.

On May 7, 2023, at approximately 4:51PM, a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw after observing a violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as Tayrria Cooks-Sanders, 28, of Buffalo, NY, was found to allegedly be operating with switched license plates and a suspended registration at the time of the traffic stop. Cooks -Sanders is charged with operating while registration suspended/revoked, operating with
improper plates, no front license plate and a window tint violation. Cooks-Sanders was
issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Town of Warsaw Court at a later
date.

On May 8, 2023, at approximately 9:20PM, a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s
Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw.

The Deputy observed a vehicle being driven eastbound by Carey Cartwright, 44, of Perry, NY who was known to have a suspended New York State driver’s license. Cartwright was subsequently arrested and
charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree. Cartwright was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Warsaw Court at a later date.

A traffic stop for following too closely on Route 20A, in the Town of Sheldon, resulted in
the arrest of the operator, Noah P. Zachewicz, 21, of West Seneca, NY for DWI/Drugs.

Zachewicz was observed to have general indicators of impairment roadside and performed poorly on his
standardized field sobriety tests. Zachewicz was placed under arrest for DWI and taken back to
the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he submitted to a drug reconigiton evaluation,
conducted by a certified Drug Recognition Expert. It was determined by the DRE’s expert opionion
that Zachewicz was under the influence of a CNS Stimulant and Cannabis, and unable to operate
a vehicle safely.

Zachewicz is charged with DWI /Drugs, DWI Drugs Combo/Special and following too closely.
Zachewicz was processed and given an appearance ticket on all his charges, and is due back in the
Town of Sheldon Court on 05/22/23 at 6:30PM.

Daniel D. Davis, 45, of Buffalo, NY was arrested on Route 20A in the Town of Perry following a
traffic stop for a window tint violation.

Davis was found to allegedly be operating a vehicle with two active revocations on his license from 2014
and 2016.

Davis is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the 2nd degree and released with an appearance ticket for the Town of Perry Court at a later date. A valid passenger was present and was able to operate the vehicle from the scene.
