It was a picture-perfect day at the Annual Father’s Day Rotary Fly-In Breakfast at the Genesee County Airport on Sunday.
50 volunteers helped serve up Father’s Day breakfast to about 1300 people.
“A lot of people just love to come out, we had several planes and helicopters fly in today, that wanted to come for breakfast after they heard about it from other local airports, says Mark Snyder, Co-Chair of the Fly-In Breakfast.
“We have the perfect weather, couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
“This was originally started by the Flying Farmers, they gave it up because they didn’t have enough manpower, so they asked us if we would take it over on Father’s Day. It all started during the Wing Ding. The whole idea is to get 10-12 planes to come in, it’s a huge attraction. We’ve expanded over the years with bigger grills,” says Paul Marchese, Co-Chair and 36-year member of Batavia Rotary.
Boshart Enterprises and Aircraft Services donated the hangar space, UMMC donated all the stainless steel and dry goods, Tops Supermarket helped out with eggs, pancake mix and most of the staple foods. Also donating, Upstate Milk, Empire Tractor, Suburban Propane, Wright Beverage and Arctic Refrigeration.
