The Class of 2023 is our first class to graduate using the Latin Honors system. Approved in 2019, this system honors students who take a rigorous course load and provides the opportunity to achieve Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude graduation honors. Similar to a college honors system, it can also help students when applying for scholarships.
Here is the honor criteria:
Summa Cum Laude
•Grade requirement: 95+ high school average
•Course requirement: 3 Advanced Placement Classes OR 2 Advanced Placement Classes and 2 Dual Enrollment College Courses*
Magna Cum Laude
•Grade requirement: 90+ high school average
•Course requirement: 2 Advanced Placement Classes OR a 1 Advanced Placement Class and 2 Dual Enrollment College Courses*
Cum Laude
•Grade requirement: 85+ high school average
•Course requirement: 1 Advanced Placement Class OR 2 Dual Enrollment College Courses*
*College credits earned at GVEP will meet the Dual Enrollment requirement for these honors.
Sorry, I tend to pace on my porch like a lion. I don’t mean to photobomb any shoots, I just have legit bad anxiety. Sometimes I play wiffle ball in the yard. I’m considering mounting a drum set on my roof. Everyone knows I can sing lol
