BATAVIA/Person shot during disturbance

Batavia Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Holland/Raymond Avenue during a large disturbance.

Police say about 10-15 people were involved in the disturbance about midnight on Tuesday. Things escalated and shots were fired in the area. During the incident, a female was shot. According to Police, the female victim has unknown injuries at this time and was transported by ground ambulance to ECMC.

The group involved in the disturbance scattered from the area during the incident and the suspect in the shooting fled on foot. Police are looking for the suspect and later responded to the Dellinger Avenue area during their investigation. Currently, no arrest has been made.

The Raymond and Holland Avenue area was closed off to traffic for several hours as police recovered evidence and shell casings.

At 12:07am on July 12, 2023, Officers from the City of Batavia Police Department were dispatched to the area of Holland Avenue for a reported disturbance involving 10-15 individuals. The caller also reported hearing gunshots in the area.

As officers arrived on scene, multiple individuals were seen fleeing. Officers quickly located a female with a single gunshot wound. The injured female was taken to ECMC by ground ambulance, the status of her injuries are unknown at this time.
