Historic fair expands to second weekend in Batavia, NY
Batavia, NY – One of the longest consecutively running county fairs in New York State, the Genesee County Fair is celebrating its 183rd year. It will take place July 22 – 29, 2023 at the Genesee County Fairgrounds. A short drive from both Rochester and Buffalo, and at just $10.00 per carload, it’s one of the most affordable family activities of the summer. Since 1839, Upstate New York families have attended the annual fair at the Genesee County Fairgrounds to enjoy classic fair foods, Niagara Down Under, Pony Rides, meet and greet with animals (over 1000 will be at the fair this year!), hop on the rides and more.
In 2023 the annual county fair is continuing to grow to include a second weekend! Over the eight days of the fair, attendees will enjoy nightly live music, daily 4-H animal shows, pig races, wood carving, Fair Queen & Princess Pageant and an expanded Midway courtesy of Hammerl Amusements. New this year, Fame Racing, Wings on Wheel and Enduro Race (at the Grandstands) and more free entertainment – including Pig Races Daily, Balloon Demonstrations, Fame Racing, Taste of New York Selfie Contest, Kids Color Wars, Ice Eating Contest and an Ag Awareness Tent. New this year to the Fair is the Stockyard Classic Livestock Shows July 21, 22 & 23 and the Summer Kick Off Classic Open Horse Show July 28th & 29th.
The special preview night on Friday, July 21 begins at 3 pm with $5.00 admission to enter fairgrounds for that evening. The North American Six Horse Hitch Series will start at 5:30pm at the horse area on Friday night, July 21. The North American Six Horse Hitch Series will do a second show on Saturday, July 22 at 12:30pm. Stop by and enjoy this show.

The fair is hosting special deals for senior citizens, veterans, kids, and emergency responders on select days throughout the week. Fans can keep up with the deals and news on Facebook, where the fair will be holding four trivia contests to give away tickets to the demolition derby and coupons to the Ag Society’s food stand, the Chuckwagon.
