BATAVIA POLICE BLOTTER/Batavia man charged with felony assault after an altercation involving a knife

On 7/19/2023, Jamonte O. Murrell, 19, of Batavia, NY, was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd degree. Murrell was arrested after an investigation into a disturbance. It’s alleged that Murrell cut another person, with a knife, during a physical altercation at a residence on Watson Street. Murrell was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court at a later date. The case was handled by Officers Messmer and Girvin.

On 7/12/2023, Michael J. Torres, 39, of Batavia, NY, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Shortly before 5:30pm, on July 12th, Torres was located by Batavia Police riding his bicycle in the area of Ellicott Street and Ellicott Place. Officers were aware that Torres had a warrant from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and attempted to stop him. Torres refused to stop and attempted to flee on his bicycle. Police followed Torres onto Colorado Avenue, where he crashed his bicycle, into a Batavia Police vehicle. He then attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody a short distance away. Torres was allegedly found to be in possession of multiple bags of a narcotic, and a large sum of cash. Torres was arraigned in CAP Court and released. He is due back in court at a later date. The case was handled by Officers Freeman and Rissinger.

On 7/11/2023, Karina M. Treleaven, 39, of Batavia, NY was arrested and charged with DWI: Previous Conviction within 10 Years. Officers were called to the 300 block of Washington Avenue shortly after 11:30pm on July 11th, for the report of a motor vehicle accident. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a parked car and that the driver had left the scene on foot. The alleged driver, who was identified as Treleaven, was located a short distance away and taken into custody. According to officers she was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash. Treleaven was just convicted of DWI in a separate case on 6/1/2023. In addition to the felony DWI, Treleaven is charged with Moving from Lane Unsafely and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. She was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released, under the supervision of Genesee Justice. She is due back in court, on 7/27/2023. The case was handled by Sergeant Perkins.

On 7/9/2023, Thomas J. Preedom, 35, of Batavia, NY, was arrested and charged with Harassment 2nd degree. Preedom was arrested after a disturbance call on Washington Avenue where he allegedly pushed one person and struck another. He was arraigned in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance. It was later found that one of the victims was the protected party in an order of protection against Preedom. Preedom was then charged, on 7/16/2023, with Criminal Contempt 1st degree. He was issued an appearance ticket and released. The case was handled by Officer Moscicki.

On 7/14/2023, Cassandra L. Elmore, 31, of Batavia, NY, was arrested on two bench warrants, out of Batavia City Court. The first case is the result of a traffic stop on 8/30/2022, where Elmore was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Operating without an Inspection Certificate, Insufficient Tail Lamps, two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, Failure to Change Address and Depositing Refuse on the Highway. Elmore was issued appearance tickets and released. She allegedly failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued on 9/8/2022. She was arrested on that warrant on 9/10/2022. During that arrest, Elmore allegedly fought with a Batavia Police Officer and was additionally charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration. Warrants were issued in both cases on 1/23/2023, after Elmore allegedly failed to appear in court again. She was arrested on 2/2/2023. Warrants were again issued on 2/21/2023, after she failed to appear in court. On 7/14/2023, Elmore was located at a residence on River Street and arrested. She was additionally charged with two counts of Bail Jumping 3rd degree in relation to each warrant. She was arraigned and remanded to the custody of the Genesee County Jail. She is due back in court on 7/25/2023.

On 7/12/2023, Michelle L. Misiak, 58, of LeRoy, NY, was arrested on a bench warrant out of Batavia City Court. Misiak was initially charged with Petit Larceny on 9/27/2022, for allegedly stealing from Aldi on East Main Street. The warrant was issued on 3/10/2023, after she allegedly failed to appear in court. On 7/12/2023, Misiak was located by the Village of LeRoy Police and turned over to the Batavia Police. She was additionally charged with Bail Jumping 3rd degree and arraigned in Batavia City Court. She was held on bail and remanded to the custody of the Genesee County Jail.

On 7/12/2023, Rulee A. Allyn, 60, of Batavia, NY, was arrested and charged with six counts of Owning an Unlicensed Dog and six counts of Failure to Provide Sustenance to Animals. On the morning of 7/12/2023, Officers were called to Brooklyn Ave, for the report of numerous dogs running loose in the area. Officers located five dogs and were able to contain them. They were determined to belong to Allyn. A sixth dog was located in Allyn’s residence. All the dogs were allegedly covered in feces and were not being properly cared for. Allyn was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Batavia City Court on 7/25/2023. The case was handled by Officers Davis and Quider.
