WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/September 25, 2023

Melvin C. Franklin, 56 of Delevan, NY, was arrested following an investigation into a larceny
complaint at the Warsaw Walmart on September 12, 2023.

Franklin was stopped by a Walmart Asset Protection agent after allegedly damaging property within the store and taking it out of the store without purchasing it.
Through investigation, it was discovered that Franklin was previously banned from Walmart properties
earlier in the year. Franklin was subsequently charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal
mischief in the fourth degree and petit larceny.

Franklin was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and jailed in lieu of $2,500.00 cash or $5,000.00.
bond or $7,500.00 partially secured. Franklin was scheduled to re appear in the Warsaw Town Court on September 25th, 2023 for further proceedings.

On September 14, 2023 at approximately 3:53p.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County
Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon for a
speeding violation.

The operator of the vehicle, Robert Baez, initially attempted to identify himself as another male, by providing a photograph of a New York State driver’s license.

An investigation roadside revealed Baez’ true identity and also showed that Baez had 6 active
suspensions on his New York State driver’s license. Baez was subsequently charged with
criminal impersonation in the second degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the second
degree, speed in a zone, an equipment violation, and unlawful window tint.

Baez was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sheldon Court at a later date.

Jessica A. Shanahan, 39, of Amherst, NY, was arrested following an investigation in Bennington,
where she had allegedly violated a full stay-away order of protection issued by the Wyoming
County Family Court in March of 2023.

It was reported that Shanahan had been attempting to contact her former boyfriend multiple times within the last few months. Shanahan was arrested and charged with criminal contempt in the second degree. She was arraigned in the Town of Bennington Court where she was released on her own recognizance and due back in Court on 10/23/2023.
