GENESEE COUNTY/Batavia man arrested after 6-month investigation into the sale/possession/transportation of crack cocaine/released on recognizance

The Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force, comprised of Police Officers from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and the Batavia Police Department, arrested a City of Batavia man Thursday November 3, 2023, as the result of a 6-month investigation into the possession, transportation, and sale of crack cocaine in and around Genesee County.


Philip R. Chin (aka “P”), 36, of McKinley Ave., Batavia, N.Y., is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B-felony (two counts), Criminal possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B-felony (3 counts) and Tampering with Physical Evidence 1st degree, a class E-felony. (1 Count)

Chin was was taken into custody on a sealed indictment warrant out of Genesee County Court Thursday evening following a traffic stop in the Village of LeRoy by the Genesee County Drug Task Force.

It is alleged that Chin sold a quantity of crack cocaine to an agent of the Genesee County Drug Task Force while in Batavia on two separate occasions. During the traffic stop, it is alleged Chin was in
possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and attempted to conceal it from the arresting officers resulting in further charges.

Chin was arraigned in Genesee County Court on Friday November 3, 2023 and was released on recognizance due to bail reform laws.

Task Force members were assisted by Uniformed Deputies of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Uniformed officers from the LeRoy Police Department and the Genese County District Attorney’s Office.
