GENESEE COUNTY/LeRoy/Sheriff’s Office investigating a fatal accident involving a deer

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one car motor vehicle accident that occurred on Route 19 in the Town of LeRoy on Thursday morning.

The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received the 9-1-1 call reporting the accident at
7:03 AM. A blue 2016 Nissan sedan, driven by Judith A. Purdy, age 58, of LeRoy, NY, was northbound on Route 19, when a deer entered the roadway from the east shoulder of the road. Purdy’s vehicle struck the deer, and as a result of the collision, Purdy suffered fatal injuries. Purdy was pronounced dead at the scene by Genesee County Coroner John Peck.

The accident was investigated by members of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene were members of the Town of Leroy Fire Department, Leroy Ambulance Service, and the Village of Leroy Police Department.

  1. I am so sorry to hear this. I feel very sad for her family. Those deer are so dangerous when we drive. Can’t believe to be here after hitting one on the thruway. It happens so quick and knocks you out…may God help comfort her family. .net
