On November 12, 2023, at 5:32a.m., Troopers out of SP Albion responded to a one vehicle collision on East Barre Road in the town of Barre.
An investigation determined that the 2007 Volkswagen was traveling westbound on East Barre Road and exited the roadway into a field located off the north shoulder of the roadway. The Volkswagen overturned multiple times and the operator and sole occupant, Joshua S. Watkins, 32, of Albion, NY was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Orleans County Coroner responded, and an autopsy will be completed at Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. The operator was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.
