WYOMING COUNTY/Public meeting planned to discuss cleanup of the former Emkay Dairy Processing Plant on Church Street in Arcade

Press release

Arcade, NY, December 4, 2023 – In 2022, the not-for-profit organization, WCBC North, was awarded $500,000 in grant funding through the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Brownfield Cleanup Grant to complete the environmental remediation and building demolitions of the former Emkay Dairy Processing Plant at 58 Church Street in the Village of Arcade, NY.

Vacant and abandoned since 2002, the ultimate goal of this project is to prepare the property site for the future redevelopment of a mixture of senior housing and commercial uses.

As part of the remediation process, WCBC North is seeking to engage the Arcade community to better improve impacted residents’ understanding of the project and to gather insights from the community on how the site should be remediated.

To learn more about this project and to share your thoughts, WCBC North strongly encourages residents to attend the first public meeting which will be held Wednesday, December 13th at 6 pm in the Pioneer Arcade Elementary School Auditorium (315 Main Street, Arcade, NY, 14009).

  1. Good Idea for when the kids look out the window!

  2. Wyoming County played cat and mouse with that over the years it’s a shame that it’s such a political football that no one will do anything maybe this might be the time to clean up that eyesore and make the property into taxable real estate
