ORLEANS COUNTY/Barre woman jailed after stabbing

Orleans County Sheriff Christopher M. Bourke reports the arrest a female suspect following a violent domestic incident in the Town of Barre.

On December 11, 2023, at about 7:56am, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office responded to 5164 Oak Orchard Road in the Town of Barre for the reported domestic incident involving a knife. Patrols arrived on scene and determined Nathalie Ann Smith (57) had allegedly stabbed her boyfriend John G. Dunn (59) multiple times.

Deputies on scene assisted in rendering aid until medical personnel arrived.

Dunn and Smith were both transported by EMS to area hospitals where there were treated. Dunn remains in stable condition at Strong Hospital, Smith was taken into custody after an evaluation.

Smith has been charged with Assault with intent to cause serious physical injury with a weapon, a class B felony, and criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, a class A misdemeanor.

Smith is being held at the Orleans County Jail pending arraignment.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police, Barre Fire Department, and Monroe Ambulance.

UPDATE:

Smith was arraigned in Orleans County CAP Court at 7:30 pm this evening. Smith was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff with Bail set at $100,000. An Order of Protection was issued for the victim. Smith will return to the Town of Barre Court.
