Governor Kathy Hochul’s recent announcement of a $479 million investment in water infrastructure projects across New York brings significant benefits to Genesee County, including a
substantial $30 million allocation for the third phase of the County’s critical water supply project.
This funding, part of New York State’s $4.2 billion Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental
Bond Act of 2022 underscores the State’s commitment to modernize aging water and sewer systems.
Genesee County’s share will fortify the ongoing water supply project, ensuring a safe and reliable water
supply for its residents and agricultural community.
Expressing gratitude, Genesee County Legislative Chair Rochelle Stein remarked, “We greatly appreciate
the Governor for supporting the County’s top infrastructure project with the award of $30 million
towards our phase 3 of the water project for Genesee County. It’s a grand first step! Our governor has
first-hand knowledge of our county’s assets and robust economy that access to public water supports.
We look forward to putting these funds right to work and will continue to partner with the State on
future funding opportunities.”
This transformative funding is anticipated to positively impact the community’s well-being and future
prosperity, further solidifying the partnership between the State and Genesee County in advancing
essential water infrastructure projects.
