BATAVIA/Dirty Dans offers affordable junk and trash removal services

Dirty Dans Junk and Trash Removal on Tracy Avenue in Batavia on Sunday

Daniel King originally started his business in June of 2023 as a junk removal service. Since then, he has decided to add trash removal.

“Trash was a big problem for me and other people, says King. We were limited to one can and some companies would miss a day and your garbage wouldn’t get picked up, so garbage would be backed up for months.”

King experienced this in other places he lived as well. He says he wanted to do something about it and wanted to see change.

“I came up with the idea about junk because I always ran the flea market as a kid with my mom’s boyfriend. I would go picking up stuff at the side of the road with him.”

“Junk” has been a part of King’s family since the 50’s, beginning with his great grandfather.

King sometimes has a sidekick along for the ride. His almost two-year-old son, Onyx, keeps dad company for scheduled pick-ups. King also works a full-time job during the overnight.

His fiancé, Anastasia Landen, assists with taking calls and messages and sets up appointments for pick-up of junk or trash. She can be reached at 585-815-9533 or through their Facebook page.

“This week I am removing a hot tub, I’ll take anything (except large items like motor homes).

“We’re pretty fast in responding and were pretty reasonable with pricing.”

For junk removal, King says its $100 per load for a one time pick up of junk. Trash pick-up is $35 per month and includes 10 bags with a minimum of 2 bulk items and recycling per week. He says he picks up junk and trash areawide. Dirty Dans Junk and Trash Removal also offers small moving services.

King says he uses area transfer stations and transports recyclables to a business in Rochester, NY.

“Doing something like this, you’re helping the community. You’re helping yourself. You’re starting something on your own.”

Currently, he is using 8’x14′ trailer, and sometimes rents a U-Haul truck for larger jobs. King says he plans to upgrade to a box truck or a dump truck in the near future.
