WYOMING COUNTY/Castile man pleads guilty to promoting and possessing a sexual performance by a child

On Friday, February 23, 2024, WILLIAM E. WALLACE, age 72, appeared before the Honorable Melissa Lightcap Cianfrini and unconditionally pleaded guilty to:

9 counts – Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (a Class “D” Felony)

3 counts – Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (a Class “E” Felony)

On Friday, February 23, 2024, WILLIAM E. WALLACE, age 72, appeared before the Honorable Melissa Lightcap Cianfrini and unconditionally pleaded guilty to:

9 counts – Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (a Class “D” Felony)

3 counts – Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (a Class “E” Felony)

WILLIAM E. WALLACE admitted that on September 10, 2023, he “knowing the character and content thereof, knowingly possessed a performance which included sexual conduct by a child less than sixteen years old.” He also admitted that in the years of 2022 and 2023, on multiple dates, he “promoted a performance which included sexual conduct by a child less than seventeen years of age.”

There was no sentencing commitment from either the People or the Court. Defendant faces a maximum sentence on each of the 9 counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child of 7 years in NYS Prison and on each of the 3 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child of 4 years in prison.

Sentencing was adjourned until May 20, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, WILLIAM E. WALLACE, a 72 year old resident of Castile, New York, was arraigned on a twelve count indictment charging him with:

9 counts – Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (a Class “D” Felony)

3 counts – Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (a Class “E” Felony)

William Wallace pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned until January 18, 2024 for motions.

The District Attorney’s Office asked for bail to be set in the amount of $40,000 / $80,000 / $160,000. The Court released Defendant to the pre-trial release program with an ankle monitor.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Chelsie Hamilton. Daniel Dubois, Esq. represents the Defendant.
