GENESEE COUNTY/Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble celebrates 10 years, performing local composer’s piece “Dark Ride”

Conductor Phillip J. Briatico, along with the Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble, celebrated their 10th Anniversary on Saturday. The group performed local composer, Laurence Tallman’s “Dark Ride” at Elba Central School’s Auditorium at their Spring Concert. (Snippet of the performance above)

In commemoration or the Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble’s 10th Anniversary, Tubist Craig Hodnett presented a Special Recognition award to the 43-member group from the Association of Concert Bands in commemoration of their 10th Anniversary. The group first performed at Elba H.S. Auditorium exactly 10 years ago today. About 6 members are still with the group after 10 years

The members who are still with the group after 10 years are Pamela Wentworth/Piccolo, Kate Garner/Flute, Karen Reamer/Bass Clarinet, Dave Porter/Baritone, Valerie Hulme and Conductor Philip J. Briatico.

The group also honored Carrie Desjardins and dedicated their third number, O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen, to Desjardins who volunteered at the box office often.
