WYOMING COUNTY/Attica Police arrest Basom man after extensive investigation

The Village of Attica Police Department reports the arrest of Douglas G. Goodwin, no age provided, of Basom, NY, on misdemeanor and felony charges following an extensive investigation by on-duty members of the Village of Attica Police.

In the evening hours of September 16th, 2024, the Village of Attica Police responded to the parking area of Sokol Drive in the Village of Attica for reports of a suspicious and dangerous person. Due to the nature of the call for service and statements by the caller regarding the suspect, the Village of Attica Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the suspect who was operating a motorcycle, proceeded to flee at an extreme rate of speed on a high-performance style motorcycle. After multiple commands from law enforcement to stop, the suspect, continued to proceed driving in a reckless and unsafe manner almost striking a marked police vehicle. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the residents of the Village of Attica, NY a short pursuit ensued and was then promptly terminated.

Through the course of the investigation, our officers identified that the suspect currently had a suspended New York State driver’s license with 14 overall suspensions on 11 separate dates. After a more in-depth investigation and multiple statements from witnesses and victim, the suspect was properly identified, an arrest warrant was issued.

On November 27th, 2024, with the assistance of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas G. Goodwin was located and arrested in the area of Corfu, NY. Goodwin was then transported by the Village of Attica Police Department for his arraignment before the Honorable Justice Perry, at which time Goodwin was committed to the Wyoming County Jail on $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 partially secured, or $80,000 unsecured bond.

VTL: 1110(A): Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device-Violation

VTL: 1172(A): Failure to Stop at Stop Sign-Violation

VTL: 1180(A): Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent-Violation

VTL: 1163(A): Failure to Signal-Violation

VTL: 410(1): Operating Unregistered Motorcycle-Violation

VTL: 1212(A): Reckless Driving- U-Misdemeanor

VTL: 511(3): Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree- E-Felony

PL: 240.20(2) (B): Disorderly Conduct-Violation

PL: 140.10(A): Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree- B-Misdemeanor

PL: 240.45(1): Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree- B-Misdemeanor

PL: 120.45(2): Stalking 4th Degree- B-Misdemeanor

PL: 270.25(2): Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer 3rd Degree- A-Misdemeanor

PL: 240.30(1) (A): Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree- A-Misdemeanor

PL: 120.14(2): Menacing 2nd Degree- A-Misdemeanor

PL: 140.25(2): Burglary 2nd Degree- C-Felony
