It was all smiles and a celebratory atmosphere at 466 Ellicott Street in Batavia on Saturday afternoon as four barbers, friends, family and the community gathered for the official Grand Opening/Open House for The Local Barbershop on the southside.
The Co-op of Damian Hargrave, Alton Rupp, Tommy Slenker and Will Reshke started to remodel the location at 466 Ellicott Street on January 1st. On January 10th, the Co-op held a soft opening and have been receiving a lot of good feedback from customers.

The four barbers have years of experience under their belts and have been working at 466 Ellicott Street under the previous owner who left the area to follow an opportunity in Buffalo. The group is currently leasing the location.

“That coincided with our vision to open up our own shop, ” says Damian Hargrove, Co-owner at The Local Barbershop
“We knew that we wanted to open our own shop, and we knew this place was going to come available so we decided there’s no reason to go searching someplace else when we can just stay right here,”
With an overflow of vehicles parking onto William Street during Saturday’s ribbon cutting and open house, Batavia is excited to have the Co-op in the neighborhood since their soft open a few weeks ago.
“Tons of love from the community and a lot of positive feedback online and in person. It’s been nothing but wonders, great communication between all of us and the patrons that come here. It’s just been awesome.”
