Byron Fire Department #1 held their 52nd Annual Installation dinner and banquet on Saturday evening at their firehall on Rt. 262.

EMT’s Laura Platt and Tatum Higby of Byron’s Rescue Squad took first place in the NYS Basic Life Support Competition at the EMS Games held at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester October 16-20th, 2024. Teh event featured a series of challenging real-world scenarios that tested participants clinical skills, quick thinking and teamwork under pressure.

Byron Fire Chief Bob Mruczek was recognized for his service to the department for the past 10 years. Mruczek has served in the volunteer fire service for almost 30 years. He will remain with the department this year as Deputy Chief. Dwane Weatherell has been named the Chief of the department for 2025.
