Eleah Dowell to Attend University of North Carolina Wilmington

LeRoy, NY – June 13, 2025 – The Town & Country Garden Club of LeRoy, NY is pleased to announce that the recipient of the club’s 2025 Scholarship is Eleah Dowell, LeRoy High School Class of 2025. The Club’s Scholarship Committee selected Eleah to receive the scholarship based on her scholastic achievements and volunteer activities that focused on conservation.
“The committee was impressed by Eleah’s service to local community projects and her commitment to environmental causes,” said Lucy MacKenzie, Scholarship Committee Chair.
Eleah’s school activities included several sports, the Math Team, Mock Trial and Scholastic Bowl, the Foreign Language Club, and the Honor Society. During 5 years as an Ecology Club member, she participated in hands-on projects such as forest owl prowls and conservation efforts. Eleah also helped with a youth volleyball camp, multiple community cleanup projects that included beautification and green space maintenance, plus volunteering for children’s activities and crocheting baby hats for a local hospital. Eleah will attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington to study coastal engineering with the goal of developing sustainable solutions to protect shorelines and promote balance in ecosystems.
The Town and Country Garden Club of Le Roy is a community service organization that plants and maintains several gardens and displays throughout town, as well as offering education programming on garden topics.
