The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious physical injury two car motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of State Route 262 and Fisher Road in the Town of Oakfield.
The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received the 9-1-1 call reporting the personal injury accident at 6:19 PM.
Upon arrival, patrols observed two vehicles on the south side of the intersection in front of 3538 State Route 262. The first vehicle involved was a 1999 Ford pickup truck, color black, traveling westbound on State Route 262, operated by a Chad Bruning, age 34, of Byron, NY. The second vehicle involved was a 2020 Hyundai sedan, color white, traveling southbound on Fisher Road, operated by a
Wesley Ditton, age 47, of Apalachin, NY. Both vehicles were single occupant vehicles.
The Ford pickup operated by Bruning, was traveling west on State Route 262 when the white Hyundai failed to yield the right of way and proceeded out into the intersection from Fisher Road. The Ford pickup then collided with the Hyundai on the driver side causing both vehicles to go off the south shoulder of State Route 262.
Ditton had to be extricated from his vehicle, and was transported to Strong Memorial
Hospital for life threatening injuries via Mercy Flight. Bruning however only suffered minor injuries and was released at the scene by Mercy medics.
The accident is still under investigation with the investigation being handled by members of the Genesee County Crash Management Team. Assisting at the scene were members of the Genesee County Sheriff s Office, Mercy EMS, Oakfield Fire Department, Elba Fire Department and NYS Troopers.

I’m replying in reference to the accident in the above article.. Hwy 262/Drake St. in Oakfield, NY(small town in Western New York).. Traveling speed on Hwy 262 traveling westbound towards Elba, NY is Managed by State Troopers and Genesee County Sheriff’s Dept…
At the Fisher Rd. Intersection it is a two way stop for Fisher Rd. travel only. The kicker here is that there’s a very small incline just approaching The Fisher Rd. intersection.. This can pose as a slight obstacle with devastating consequences, as you can see in the pictures..My reason for this excerpt in response to the article is to help the average reader not familiar with Oakfield New York’s surrounding conditions and and road conditions and situations.. As a resident of this town for many years off and on since 1993. One of the very very few things that never changes is the actual physical roads..Actually to put in perspective for readers; there has not been a new road formed up and concrete poured nor a black top/tar style road added anywhere since I first set foot in Oakfield, NY in 1993.. Every single road is exactly the same, 100%..
