Open House planned for this evening–6PM-8PM–42 Main Street, Le Roy
The Hope Center of Le Roy is a non-profit organization that is here to assist all in the GLOW region.
The Center was originally opened in 2016 as part of church-based group that wanted to create a community center to reach out to those that were interested in joining the church. After several chapters with great ideas and programs and making it through a pandemic, the center has rebranded itself and wants of offer hope to those who feel hopeless. Lathan also plans to add new programs in August.

“One of my passions is wellness, I’m a certified yoga instructor, and I do wellness retreats and such. So, we thought, oh, that’s a great fit, so we’re going to be bringing workshops and classes once a month. Sometimes it’ll be creative things. Other times, we’ll bring in educational speakers on women’s health, young ladies health, that type of thing. Our first one is August 14th, and it’s going to be Bloom Bites and Balance. So, it’s going to be a floral therapy kind of workshop. Learn about flowers, their meanings, make little bouquets, and then the food that we serve is going to be floral based, lavender bread.”

The Hope Center of Le Roy has been reborn says Lathan and has many programs to assist residents in the GLOW Region. They offer programs like Fresh Start Tutoring for K-6 students free of charge (grant funded through United Way).
Senior Moments Respite, for people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.
Made to Bloom Ladies Group, a welcoming space where women come together to relax, create, learn, and connect with workshops, classes and speakers.
And a recently added program, Men of Hope. This group of men offer their time and talents for mentoring, handyman services, heavy lifting, or just offering a listening ear.

Hope Center of Le Roy Director, Gina Lathan, says they are looking to help people all over the GLOW region, not just in Le Roy. Lathan says the location at 42 Main Street has also been upgraded inside.
“We did a little facelift in here. Prior to this, it was very industrial, cream colored with folding tables and chairs. So, we want to make it welcoming and cozy, like come in and talk to us and let us know how we can help you and what we can do for you.”

A little free library is also taking shape inside and books are needed.
“We have a lot of exciting things in mind, and we’ll see where it goes from there. Our new motto is hope grows here. So, we know that’s going to be like personal for everybody.”

Hope Center of Le Roy is holding an Open House this evening, Friday June 27th, 6pm-8pm at 42 Main Street. Everyone is welcome to stop by. They are currently holding an E-Bike fundraiser, tickets at $25 or 5 tickets for $100.
