Batavia Good Trouble Lives On Protest and School Supply Drive

Press release

[BATAVIA, NY, July 17, 2025] — GLOW Community Alliance is hosting a Good Trouble Lives On protest and school supply drive in front of Batavia City Hall on Thursday, July 17th from 6 – 8 pm, to mobilize the community against harmful federal policies while encouraging direct support of community members in need.

Community members are encouraged to bring signs for the protest and school supplies for a collection that will be donated directly to a local area school to benefit students. This event follows a successful “Fight for Women and the Marginalized” locally donated food drive and protest on May 17th, conducted by the GLOW Community Alliance.

All school supplies are welcome, but the most needed are: 1” and 2” binders, spiral notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, highlighters, and pencil cases.

The protest follows the tradition of peaceful civic engagement, in spite of opposing aggressive rhetoric and legislation seeking to divide and damage vulnerable communities across GLOW and the nation.

July 17th marks the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, who was a civil rights leader that coined the phrase “Good Trouble” to inspire communities to peacefully come together and challenge injustice.

GLOW Community Alliance is a new organization formed to directly support, inspire, and educate people spanning the entire GLOW region. We are an informal organization composed of active members constructing a compassionate framework of support.
