ALEXANDER, NY — The Town of Alexander is set for an engaging election season this November, as each of the open local races will be formally contested for the first time in many years. This increased participation is part of the deepening civic engagement among residents who care passionately about the
town’s future.
Three candidates were nominated at the Democratic Caucus held at the Alexander Town Hall. Each expressed their desire to keep Alexander strong, agricultural, and prepared for all future challenges. Sarah Kohl, Brenda Post, and Colette Guarino are long-time residents who share a common love for the town
and a dedication to thoughtful leadership.
Sarah and Brenda have been nominated for Town Council and Colette for Town Clerk. Sarah is a current
member of the Town Zoning Board, Brenda is active with the Alexander Firemen’s Band, and Colette has been a long-time public servant at the school.
“We believe that a healthy democracy is built on choice,” said Sarah Kohl. “Our aim is to listen, collaborate, and build on the strengths that make Alexander an amazing place to call home.”
Their hope is that this becomes a broader trend of renewed public participation across the region. The Democratic County Chair, Michael Plitt said, “It’s great to see more residents across the county interested in local governance because that’s where real impactful decisions get made.”
Residents will have opportunities to learn more about each candidate throughout the year and make an informed choice this fall. No matter the outcome, one thing is certain—democracy is alive and thriving in Alexander, NY.
