Public Hearing to be scheduled for proposed agreements with Mega Properties, Inc.
Press release
BATAVIA, NY – A 165,000 square foot distribution center proposed at the Gateway II Corporate Park in the town of Batavia, projected to generate $18.7 million in community benefits, will be reviewed at a future public hearing.
The Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) board of directors advanced an initial resolution at its August 7 meeting for Mega Properties, Inc.’s proposed $11 million distribution center. The project has pledged to create 28 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions.
Mega Properties, Inc. is requesting a sales tax exemption of $523,328, a mortgage tax exemption of $80,000, and a property tax abatement of $1,504,602. The project is estimated to generate $17.5 million in new payroll and $1.2 million in future tax revenues, for an estimated $11 local benefit for every $1 of requested incentives.
A public hearing on the proposed project agreements will be scheduled in the town of Batavia.
Route 33 between Bergen and Batavia is notorious for speeders passing already fast moving traffic. As a resident along this stretch of highway for 3 years, I use Route 33 everyday and have never seen a law enforcement vehicle on this stretch. We need law enforcement to be visible on this very dangerous road. This is the second fatality due to passing within less than a year.
