BATAVIA, NY—The Batavia City School District is inviting community members to take part in a special two-day “community build” for the new Robert Morris playground on Saturday, September 6, and Sunday, September 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers of all skill levels are encouraged to join in this hands-on effort to create a safe, engaging play space for the District’s youngest learners.
The playground will feature age-appropriate equipment designed for preschool and elementary-aged children, providing a lasting space for students and families to enjoy for years to come.
“This project is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together,” said Robert Morris Principal Jessica Korzelius. “The new playground will give our youngest learners a safe and fun place to play, and will be a lasting addition to our school and neighborhood.”
“Our plan allows professionals to guide the build while volunteers provide hands-on help,” said Superintendent Jason Smith. “This helps the district be more efficient with funds and gives families and neighbors a real connection to the finished playground.”

Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Basic hand tool experience is a plus
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
