BATAVIA – An estimated 1,400 participating students and educators will attend this year’s GLOW With Your Hands career exploration festival on September 30th. They will be assisted by volunteer tour guides which are in high demand.
“Volunteers provide the energy that makes GLOW With Your Hands such a vibrant and impactful event,” said Karyn Winters, GLOW With Your Hands Co-Chair. “Our tour guides provide students direction as they interact with over 65 exhibitors, a task that leads to life-changing experiences for our youth.”
GLOW With Your Hands organizers are seeking to register 60 volunteer tour guides ahead of the event.
Tour guides receive schedules and training in advance of the event. Each will be matched to one of the 30 participating school districts, greet students as they arrive, help distribute hard hats and cinch bags to students, and escort the groups around designated areas.
Tour guides help keep students on schedule and encourage student participation with vendors.
“It’s a lot of fun,” Winters said. “Being a tour guide gives a volunteer a full view of GLOW With Your Hands, the careers in our community, and the young people who are going to be our future leaders.”
