The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at about 6:19am on August 22, 2025, at the intersection of West Bergen and Griswold Roads in the Town of LeRoy.
Preliminary investigation shows that Brianna R. Welsh, age 20, of Apopka, Florida was operating a 2014 Nissan sedan westbound on Griswold Road. Welsh failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Griswold Road and collided with a 2018 Ford dump truck and trailer combination traveling northbound on West Bergen Road.
Both Welsh and a passenger in her vehicle, Mallen A. Mello, age 20, also from Apopka, Florida, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the dump truck, Timothy E. Briggs, age 36, of Piffard, NY was uninjured.
Investigation is continuing by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. Assistance was provided by the Genesee County Coroner’s Office, New York State Police, LeRoy police department, LeRoy Fire Department and Bergen Fire Department.
Omgosh. I used to babysit her and her brothers. Really sad. Really really sad. She was such an awesome little girl. <3 I am so sorry mom. 😞
Also, look into those trucks. I’ve literally got tons of pictures in my phone of that same truck being pulled over by police. Those trucks speed through there like crazy. I’ve seen that exact truck 100x flying through there. I lived in South Byron. Just up the road from there. I saw 2 of them trucks getting tickets there just a couple weeks ago. Same time. Got video of that truck getting nailed by cops. There have been many requests made to the Stafford town hall by many people of South Byron about those intersections and the numerous deaths there. I personally sent like 5 letters. They have never addressed it.
No sleep tonight. It’s just too sad. Brianna was such a good person. I hadn’t seen her in years, but she was loved. I never met the other person. Just really sad about both. So young. I can’t believe it.
