Western Regional Off-Track Betting and Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel were proud to once again host our annual Vet’s night to raise monies for the Rochester Veteran’s Court Mentors.
Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel has partnered with this group of veterans since 2015. We are proud to continue to support this local group of volunteer veterans who personally assist their fellow veterans who have fallen on difficult times, continuing with the motto of “leaving no soldier behind”. This group of men and women assist their fellow veterans in a number of ways, including making sure Vets get to doctor’s and rehab appointments. The primary area of assistance is the special Veteran’s Court where our Vets are given an opportunity to have a better way to transition into society if they fall into legal troubles.
Ray Melens, Lead Mentor with Rochester Veterans Court, accepts a check for $9,366 from Sean Schiano, Vice President of Operations at Batavia Downs on Thursday morning at Batavia Downs.
All monies raised from our August 16 event go directly to the Vets to assist in their programs. This year we raised $9,366.
