Batavia and the surrounding area were well represented on Saturday at the Van Bortel Corvette Cruise-In at Van Bortel Corvette in Macedon.

Nine Corvettes owned by local enthusiasts of the legendary American sportscar lined up at the Thruway entrance this morning and stayed in formation for the hourlong trip to the dealership.

When they arrived, they encountered hundreds of other Corvettes that were parked in rows throughout the spacious parking lot. After that, it was storytelling time and enjoying the event, which featured free food and refreshments, basket raffles and live music.

Local participants included John Peca and his grandson, Paxton Murray, who later were joined by Peca’s girlfriend, Debbie Murray, who presented him with a birthday cake marking his special day on Sunday. John drove his 2024 Z06 to the rally.

Other Batavia-area attendees were Dan DiMartino, 2025 Stingray; Jim and Brenda Pierce, 2017 Z06; Sonny Pursel, 2023 Stingray; John Brewster, 2017 Z06; Tony and T.J. Cory, 1982 Stingray; Les and Colleen Hill, 1978 Anniversary Edition; Troy Glover and his sister, Nicole Gaiser, 2014 Stingray, and Michael Del Plato, 2013 Stingray.
