One of the Largest Displays of Antique Farming Equipment in the Northeast
Press release
Alexander, NY – Families, history buffs, and machinery enthusiasts are invited to step back in time at the 58th Annual Western New York Gas & Steam Engine Association Rally, taking place September 4–7, 2025, at the Association’s grounds at 10294 Gillate Road, Alexander, NY.
Since 1967, this beloved event has grown into one of the most unique agricultural heritage experiences in the region, showcasing more than 1,000 pieces of working historic machinery—from antique tractors and steam engines to hit-and miss engines and woodworking displays.
“This rally is where the past comes alive,” said Bill Dellapenta, President of the Association. “It’s a weekend full of memories, learning, and hands-on demonstrations that connect generations.”
“The 58th annual Gas & Steam Engine Rally reflects the incredible dedication of the volunteers who bring this experience to life year after year. It is a meaningful celebration of our agricultural and industrial heritage, and we are proud to welcome visitors from across the state and the Northeast to Genesee County’s beautiful countryside. Events like this create opportunities for families to connect, experience living history, and support the legacy of a truly remarkable community tradition,” said Kelly Rapone of the Chamber, Tourism Director for Genesee County.
A Living History Experience for All Ages
Each day, guests can witness live demonstrations of farming and mechanical techniques that shaped rural life for over a century, including threshing, baling, saw milling, blacksmithing, and more. The 2025 features are Frick Tractors and Associated Engines, with rare models on display throughout the weekend.
Families will enjoy a wide variety of kid-friendly activities, including a pedal tractor pull, steam engine vs. kids tug-of-war, and daily parades. Shoppers can browse a sprawling two-acre flea market with over 150 vendors, a basket raffle, and festival foods. Steamed sweet corn and a goulash dinner will also be available on site.
“Every year we welcome multi-generational families who make this event their tradition,” Dellapenta added. “It’s a place where grandparents and grandkids find common ground—quite literally—over tractors and toolboxes.”
