Press release
On September 23, 2025, incidents of theft from unlocked motor vehicles were reported to the Genesee
County Sheriff’s Office. The thefts occurred during the early morning hours in the Towns of Pavilion,
Le Roy and Stafford. Items targeted were primarily loose change, credit cards and tools. The Genesee
County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating these incidents.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to extend some tips in deterring theft from parked
vehicles to include:
Lock Your Vehicles – Even when parked at home, in driveways, or in what seems to be a secured
area.
Remove Valuables from Plain Sight – Conceal or remove possessions such as purses, wallets,
electronics, and identification cards. If possible, remove any valuables from your vehicle.
Use Well-Lit Parking Areas – Parking in dark or isolated areas increases risk of theft by
perpetrators.
Remove Ignition Keys/Other Keys from Vehicle – Do not leave a vehicle running unattended.
Be Alert and Aware of Your Surroundings – Report suspicious persons or activity.
Please report any suspicious activity by contacting the Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center by
dialing 911 in case Of an emergency, or the non-emergency line at 585-343-5000.
